We trusted in the LORD's leading to guide us in the calling of the next minister of the word and sacraments, that He had purposed for our congregation.
The LORD has graciously answered our prayer leading us to submit a call to Pastor Lou Slagter who was in turn led by our LORD to accept his new calling to Abbotsford.
We rejoice to have Pastor Slagter with us to lead in worship, preaching of the Word, administration of the sacraments, and to provide pastoral care. Pastor Slagter started his ministry among us on August 21st, 2016.
Pastor Slagter grew up in a covenant home in Calgary, Alberta and is married to Sylvia, his best friend & wife of 35 years. They have three grown children and are grandparents to three grandchildren.
Prior to entering the ministry, Pastor Lou was in the concrete construction industry in a managerial capacity. During this time he served as a Deacon and several terms as an Elder in his local congregation. Both he and Sylvia were active with the leadership of the Young Peoples group also.
Pastor Lou entered Mid-America Reformed Seminary in 2000 at Dyer, Indiana and graduated in 2003.
Pastor Lou received and accepted a call from the Bethel United Reformed Church in Smithers, BC in 2003 and served there for 13 years prior to accepting the call to Abbotsford.
He can at times be found riding around Abbotsford on his "Harley" weather permitting.
His greatest joy is to preach the good news of salvation that is ours in Jesus Christ, and to care for Gods people.
